Program Associate, Impact Purchasing & Place-based Investing

About the Position

The Program Associate for Impact Purchasing and Place-based Investing (program associate) at the Healthcare Anchor Network (HAN) will provide organizational and programmatic support for HAN’s member network of healthcare systems across the United States. The program associate supports healthcare systems in developing equitable economic development and community wealth building strategies, splitting their time equally in the following areas: 

  • Impact Purchasing: Impact Purchasing strategies focus on increasing a health system’s spending with local and other high-impact businesses who reflect the socio-demographic diversity of a health system’s community.
  • Place-based Investing: Place-based Investing is a geographically-focused impact investment approach that allows health systems to increase the flow of affordable and flexible capital in underinvested communities.

This is a remote, full-time position intended to start early January 2027. This is an exempt, bargaining unit position, Program Associate I or II, Classification 2-3, and will report to the Senior Manager for Place-based Investing, and will equally support the Senior Manager for Impact Purchasing.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

The program associate will have the following general duties and responsibilities, as well as other duties that may arise based on the demands of specific programs and project deliverables.The program associate is a key collaborator with the Senior Manager for Place-based Investing and the Senior Manager for Impact Purchasing, in coordinating activities across HANs Impact Purchasing and Place-based Investing Program areas.  

  • Support initiative group meetings by drafting invitations and agendas, preparing speaker guides and presentations, documenting key takeaways from sessions, and maintaining records (e.g., Monday, Salesforce and Google Drive).
  • Coordinate with internal team members and external partners on scheduling, planning, and execution of meetings, programs, and events (in person and virtual).
  • Proactively compile, develop, and maintain clear, accurate summaries of HAN member’s place-based investing and impacting purchasing activities for sharing in various formats (e.g., blogs, publications, presentations, custom resources for members).
  • Collaborate with senior managers on responding to internal and external requests for summaries, talking points, briefs, research about Impact Purchasing and Place-based Investing strategies.
  • Ensure consistent, thorough, and accurate note taking during meetings, including documentation of action items and timely follow up with managers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date contact lists (names, titles, organizations, engagement status) across Salesforce, Monday.com, and other platforms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members and partners through emphasis on high-quality customer service and experience, including being responsive to requests for resources and other member needs.
  • Partner with senior managers on project planning, including developing and/or monitoring project plans with timelines, tasks, responsibilities, and deliverables.
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with project teams and stakeholders, manage issues that arise, and monitor progress to ensure that projects stay on track.
  • Collaborate with senior managers to create impact stories and other short form content for Impact Purchasing and Place-based investment strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior managers to gather member data to support Impact Purchasing and Place based investment strategies.
  • Assist on special projects and events as needed.
  • Ability to travel 4 – 6 times per year in support of project- and organizational-related events.
  • Complete other program tasks as assigned by the senior managers.

Required Qualifications:

 
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to balance multiple deadlines across several projects.
  • Self-directed, proactive problem solver with an ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to ensure quality and accuracy of work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to distill complex topics and adapt communication style for different audiences, modalities, and technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on high-functioning teams, including respectful collaboration and communication with teammates, leadership and external stakeholders.
  • A passion for equitable economic development and community health and wealth building strategies.
  • Prior experience with programs and policies affecting people with lower incomes and/or coursework related to these issues is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with supply chain or impact investing is a plus, but not required.
  • Prior experience with event planning is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be available to travel for our annual convening.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a bachelor’s degree, and 2-4+ years of post-college relevant work experience or relevant skills/experience. A degree in public policy, social sciences, economics, or any field that requires strong qualitative skills is a plus.

Employment and Compensation: 

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The job includes a generous benefits package including health care, three weeks of paid vacation per year, and an employer contribution of 7% to a 403(b) retirement plan. The starting salary for a program associate I is $63,045, and the maximum salary for a program associate II is $69,713.

This  remote, full-time, US based position includes a four month probationary period which may be extended up to seven months. New employees will be given a review before the initial probationary period expires.
